"Moon is everything set?" William asked bursting into the hut. Moon looked up from the bubbling cauldron.
She looked at William and at the person next to him. "Yes, everything is set. But why aren't you at the church? The ceremony
has already started-" "I know-" William cut her off. He looked at her pleadingly 'I broke the crystal." "I'm sorry,
I can't help you. My powers are stretched to their limit as it is." "I understand," William said quickly, heading out the
door. He ran like he never ran before in his entire life. He was only too grateful that his companion managed to keep up.
Kyra
took her place next to Byron. "Dearly beloved," the priest began. "We are gathered here today to join Princess Rose and
Lord Byron in holy matrimony..."
William jumped from the top of the wall. The guards were too busy trying to get a
peek at the royal wedding they didn't see him go air-borne and land in a pile of hay. And his partner too. "We can't go
through the church," the later one observed. "There's too many people." "There has to be another way in," William insisted.
He was not going to give up. Not when he was this close! Then he saw it.
"Do you Lord Byron of Chesterfield take
Princess rose to be your lawfully wedded wife?" "I do." "And do you Princess Rose of England take Lord Byron as your
lawfully wedded husband?" The words left her lips but it seemed to Kyra that it was another person's voice which answered,
'I do.'
William looked down from his place in the church. Everyone was in place. There was only one chance to do this
and one chance to do this right. They were not going to mess it up! Now all they were waiting for was the right moment. Timing
was everything.
"If there is anyone here who knows just cause why these two should not wed speak now or forever hold
your -" "I know of a just cause!" Everyone looked up. Kyra felt her spirit soar. He had come! It was William.
Chapter
Twelve He jumped from the window (again, don't ask me how), swung onto a chandelier, and swooped down, landing right between
the bride and the groom. He was wearing black tights that accentuated his -forgive me- lovable behind, and a white buttoned
shirt opened to reveal his muscular chest (Does he have one though?). He held up his hand to Byron. "Sorry pal," he told
him," She's my princess not yours." To prove his claim he dipped Kyra low for a kiss. "You-" Byron seethed. "Byron how
could you!" a figure in the fourth pew stood up. "Who's that?" Byron asked. "Someone you forgot to invite and who I
took the liberty of bringing. "William answered. "The bride." The woman took off her veil. Kyra gasped as she looked
into a mirror image of herself. "How dare you mistake this girl for me!" Rose accused. William winced at the shrill
voice. Oh, there were some similarities... "Mother," Rose walked up to the queen, hate in her tone. "You tried to have
me killed." The queen laughed this off. "You're a liar." "Am I, mother?" Rose returned. "My father loved me more than
you. After all you were only his second wife. You couldn't stand that. He bequest me the kingdom, but on one condition. I
had to be married to inherit. You tried to prevent that for so long. When you heard of my betrothal to Byron you panicked
and tried to have me killed." A decorated knight placed his sword on the queen's throat. "Is this true Your Majesty? My
first loyalty is to my king." "Guards seize her," the queen ordered. Swords went up all around. Battles started. William
grabbed Kyra's hand. "Let's get out of here!" he yelled above the noise. Just then a midnight black stallion burst through
the church's front door (how convenient). William lifted Kyra up and took his place at the reigns. He charged the horse. "They're
getting away!" someone called. Could it be that annoying Byron? "Close the gates!" came an order. William raced the
horse towards the opening. They barely made it through the slit when the double doors closed behind them. "Open the gates!" Kyra
looked behind them. She could hear the cries of the battle going on in the kingdom. The men chased after them on horses but
there was still distance between them. She embraced William tightly, kissing his neck feverishly. He loved her! He loved her!
This proved it. "Stop it woman! We have time for that later," he ordered. The sensations it was giving him felt too...
nice. Did she want them to crash into a tree? More drama. Arrows started flying in the air. William cried out. "Are
you okay?" Kyra asked worriedly. "Don't worry about me. Don't worry about me," William told her. They had reached that
spot in the forest. The portal was open. It's entrance glimmered. William quickly got them dismounted. Moon's voice called
to them. "Only one at a time. The portal can only handle one person at a time." William didn't need to think, "Go!" he
told Kyra. "But-" "Forget about me. Go!" He handed her something. It was her locket. "Whatever happens I love
you!" Kyra told him. "Go already!" he yelled, pushing her through. Kyra watched as William and the surroundings faded
from her.
The glimmer turned bright indicating a passage had occurred. William prepared to go through. A hand on his
shoulder stopped him. Moon had suddenly appeared next to him. She caressed his face, "Heaven forgive me for loving a mortal,"
she expressed and kissed him on the lips. William stood there stunned. "William!" Kyra called to him He cast a glance
at Moon. "You must leave," Moon reminded him sadly. With one more moment of hesitation he stepped into the light. And
then he was gone.
Chapter Thirteen Kyra looked at the mirror. She had made it safely to the present. But had William?
"Owph!" William exclaimed as he stumbled to the floor. He looked at the mirror. He had made his decision ever since that
man called him a stableboy. He came to it and smashed it on the floor. He couldn't risk Harry, or someone else he loved going
through it again. "Seven years bad luck," he observed. But he didn't care as long as the seven years were in his time. As
an afterthought he added. "Papa can get the cost out of my allowance." Kyra embraced him. She kissed him like crazy again.
This was the time for feverish kissing! "William and the girl disappeared trough the mirror...." Came the excited voice
of Harry down the hallway. He took a step back when he saw them. Charles came into the room. "Harry I don't know what you're
talking about. William is right here. "The Prince of Wales took a closer look at his eldest son. Had he changed his clothes?
And- "William, are you wearing tights?" William looked at Kyra. Kyra looked at William. They both fell over each
other laughing. They almost didn't notice the blood staining against the white of Kyra's wedding gown.
"Fight for me,
William. Fight for me like I fought for you." Kyra told him running alongside the gurney as they rushed him to the ambulance. He
could hear Kyra's voice. But it was distant. Like a faint echo which was lost in the mountains. The next thing he knew
he was walking through a fog. It was thick and blinding. "William." a voice called. William came to it. Only because
it was the only direction he had. He came to an abrupt stop when he saw who was calling his name so lovingly. "Mum?" Diana
nodded. She was as he remembered her. Beautiful and full of life. He slowly made his way towards her. "Am I dead?" he
asked. His mother shook her head. A faint smile amused at why he would think such a thing. "No, It's not your time yet." "Was
it yours?" he asked. The words came unbidden. A whole year of unanswered questions were trapped inside of him. Diana was
silent. Instead she replied. "You have to go back." "But I want to be here with you," he said. She shook her head firmly.
"There are people who need you." I needed you, you left. He was tempted to say but didn't. "You have your father. Your
brother. A kingdom. And a very special girl waiting for you," Diana told him. Kyra? "You heard me when I was calling you
to help me save her?" William wondered. "I always hear you. I'm always with you." Diana answered. She held her son's hand.
"I give you my strength, William. You're going to need it." her eyes twinkled as if it were a joke. William felt her slip
away from him. No, he couldn't lose her again. Once he can stand but twice? "No, don't go," he pleaded, running after her.
But he was enveloped by the fog. "I give you my strength," the voice came again. He ran through the dense thick air.
"I love you!" he called. Just for the purpose of saying it one last time. A response came back. "I know." William allowed
himself to fall under the overtaking sleep he was feeling. He had finally found his peace, knowing that his mother had found
hers.
Kyra paced the waiting room. "Will you stop doing that?" Harry ordered. Kyra obliged him and took the seat
next to him. "Don't worry he's going to be okay," Harry said. He wanted to ease the look of panic on her face. "I know
my brother. He'll pull through all right." Kyra gave him a half smile. His effort was endearing. "You love him?" Harry
asked. An ill-timed question but one that needed to be asked. Kyra buried her face in her hands and combed her hair back
from her eyes. "I don't know," she answered truthfully. Did they really love each other? Or were they so caught up in the
medieval motif they decided to play the fantasy? Her as the damsel in distress and him as the courageous hero? If so that
was not love. "I don't know," Kyra said again. The doctor came into the waiting room. Everyone in the waiting room held
their breath. "We've stabilized his vital signs, but-" he looked at Charles uncomfortably. "-he's lost a great deal of
blood. His aorta was cut by this." He showed them an arrowhead." We don't know where it came from. His blood type is very
rare and if we don't have enough for a transfusion soon. He could die." "Well, find it!" Charles commanded. "You don't
seem to understand. His blood type is very rare. You and Harry have the same blood but what you can give isn't enough. We
still need a pint .We can't find any-" Charles was filled with fury and panic. No, this doctor didn't understand! They
were talking about his son. And one of the future kings of England! Kyra listened to the conversation. "Excuse me but
what is his blood type?" The two men looked at her. The doctor named it for her. She said barely above a whisper.
"That's my blood type."
Kyra watched as her blood filled the long tube and transferred into Williams bloodstream. She
had chosen to go last. William was asleep and he had been intubated. The doctors had checked her for HIV and other blood related
diseases. When she cleared the test they immediately hooked her up with him for a direct transfusion. When she looked at him
lying on the bed she remembered a quote of his. "I bleed when I get cut" or something of the sort. And Harry's question, "Do
you love him?" She would never make a great princess. The last couple of days proved that. When the procedure was finished.
She felt a little sluggish. the doctor told her it would be so since she would be losing quite an amount of blood. She went
back out into the waiting-room. "It's done," she told them. She walked down the hospital. She needed to leave. She needed
to get home. She just wanted to be in familiar surroundings where things made sense. Most of all she didn't want to be there
when William awoke. They were going to have to face countless questions, some which she didn't want answered. She just
barely made it to the front entrance of the hospital when Harry ran up to her. "William's awake," he panted breathlessly.
"He asked for you." But if he was intubated- "He used sign language." Harry explained. William asked for her? "Tell
him you missed me," Kyra said. "You couldn't find me. I-I just can't see him right now." She was so confused. Harry looked
at her oddly. "Are you sure?" Her throat was dry. "Yes, I am."
Chapter Fourteen The ringing of the doorbell was
insistent. Kyra wondered what could it be. It had been a month since she last walked out of the hospital without a backward
glance and her life had returned to its ritual mundane routine. So what was the excitement now? She opened the door. William
was there. She immediately tried to close it. William blocked the move. "Not this time, Kyra," he insisted. She reluctantly
let him in. She watched him pause a moment and wave to some men waiting for him on the sidewalk. He lifted his hand to show
that: Yes, he had that safety thing on him., "Wow. You left your palace duties to drive all the way here to see little
old me a bit extreme don't you think. You could've called." "So you can put on that horrible fake accent and claim I have
the wrong number. You don't give me enough credit, Kyra." he took a seat. She faked boredom. "So what did you want to talk
to me about?" Afterall they've been through that's all she could say? "I don't know. I have your blood running in my veins.
Can't I come to say thank you." She gulped. The way he looked at her. "It was nothing. You saved my life. I saved yours.
Let's forget it." How can she ask him to forget something like that? "What about when you said you loved me?" "Did I
say that?" He was tired of her act. "Kyra, what is wrong with you!" She sighed. He was going to make her say it. "Okay,
I might've said that. But we were running from guards. I wasn't thinking straight. Running away from guards," she repeated
the phrase. "Did it actually happen?" "You bet it happened and I have the scars to prove it!" he yelled. He moved to touch
her. "Kyra I still feel for you." Kyra got off the chair, if he touched her it would be her downfall. She covered her ears.
"Don't say that. Don't say that. You don't mean it!' "I do," he said. "My mum said to me that a special girl was waiting
for me." "William, that girl doesn't have to be me. If you went back in time with another girl, if you had to go through
all those events with her you'd be saying those words to her.'" "But it wasn't another girl. It was you. Fate chose you.'" He
wasn't getting the hint. "William, I don't want to see you again." Kyra said. "Kyra-" "Look, what we have gone through
was insane! If you and I met at Eton or the mall or something we'd probably not look at each other twice. Well, I'd look twice.
But you-" How could she try to explain. "Liking you might've been fine when no one knew who we were. Who we really were. But
that was sort of fantasy. We're in reality now. You and I- don't go together." "Because I'm a prince," he rolled his eyes. Kyra
looked at him helplessly. "Thats not what I'm trying to say- what I mean is-" "If we met under normal circumstances we
wouldn't have delusions of being in love with each other." he finished for her. "Exactly!" she exclaimed. Why did he always
know what she was trying to say? "Then I guess, there's only one thing to do." he said walking towards her. "What's
that?" she asked. He had backed her into a wall. The musk scent brought back a lot of memories. His voice was husky as
he informed, "We're going to have to fall in love with each other all over again."
Epilogue It was the another night
dancing in Buckingham Palace. but this night was special for Kyra. Sure she had gone to many of these events before since
she knew William. But this night she was going there as his official girlfriend. The guy sent her roses, candy, chocolates,
perfume. What could she do? He was about to go for jewelry when The nation screamed for her to give the guy a break. So she
did. Speaking of jewelry... When Kyra had gone through the time portal she had taken with her the crown of Princess Rose.
With all the stuff that had happened she forgot all about it. Anyway, just for fun she decided to see a jeweler to have it
appraised. The amount was .....a lot. is an incredible understatement. And she was able to sell it to Queen Elizabeth for
quite a sum. So with her newfound wealth, and her new position as Wills' girl she was accepted into Britains elite circle. Back
to the ball. "I can't believe this is where we met," Kyra gushed as they walked down the hallway. '"What was it that you
said to me?" "I don't remember but I do recall you saying you were going to marry Prince William." "You're never going
to let me forget that are you?" "Nope." he grinned. Kyra laughed. Her gaze fell on one of the doors. "Hey, didn't your
father close this." she told William, going to it. "He did," William confirmed. "We better not go in." He warned. Kyra
gave him a beckoning look. "Come on. For old times sake." William sighed going in after her. They peeked into the room.
Everything was the same. The red carpeting. the wooden paneling. Except for the mirror. The mirror that was also a time portal.
That sent them on that wacky adventure. It was also the mirror William had smashed to the floor as his first task in returning.
It had been broken into a million pieces. Kyra could still remember the myriad the shattered glass made on the floor. The
mirror was now in the center of the room. In one whole piece. As if no one had touched it. The light shone on it and it glimmered
seductively. William and Kyra looked at each other. Should they? Should they not? Hmmmmm.....
Will Kyra and William
go to another adventure through time? All the way to the stone age? Maybe walk the decks of Titanic? Meet past heroes? Will
someone from another time visit them? Only time will tell.
