Chapter One Prince William tapped his webbed fingers on the lilipad. How did he manage to get himself into these messes?
He had been turned into a frog. Like he was supposed to know the girl he knocked over in a hurry to get to his science class
was a witch? Another worry passed through his mind. How was he going to explain this to his father? "Papa, the funniest thing
happened to me on my way to science class..." Yeah. That remark could get him grounded till the next century. Of course he
couldn't stay in this state forever. There was a way out. That's how magic works. Get a girl to kiss him, the witch said.
If he could get a girl to kiss him then he could turn back into a prince. Now all he had to do was find a girl who didn't
mind locking lips with an amphibian. Where to look? Where to- "Croak!" Prince William gasped as two hands grabbed him.
"Gottcha,"
Sarah Jacobs exclaimed, holding the slimy green creature in her hands. Triumph! she thought as she got out of the boggy pond.
She wasn't squeamish about holding frogs or lizards unlike some of her girl classmates. "I demand you to release me at
once!" the frog commanded. "I'm Prince William!" Sarah stopped in her tracks. She resumed walking. Frogs saying they were
Prince William? Couldn't be. Must be the late London smog making her hear things. "Release me. I'm Prince William!" the
voice came again. Sarah looked around the park to make sure no one was looking. She stared at the frog's large yellow eyes.
"Did you just say something?" "Yeah," it said. "I'm Prince William!" . "Prince William?" Sarah echoed, arching one eyebrow. "Yeah!"
the frog insisted. Prince William. Her brain analyzed those two words. When the information was processed it gave her a
mental print out of a six-foot two blonde haired blue eyed hunk who was destined to be England's future king. She looked at
the frog. Tiny, hairless, eyes that were greenish yellow, and had the stench of marsh gas. She didn't see the similarities.
"I can't let you go. You might escape. And I need a frog to dissect in Biology." "Dissect!" the word was a shriek. "You
can't do that! I'm Prince William. I'll prove it!" Sarah was curious. "How?" "Kiss me." "Ewww," she cried, almost
dropping him. "That's so gross!" Thanks, that really made him feel special. "I'm sorry but that's how the spell works!" Sarah
paused, considering. What if it really was Prince William? She looked at the frog. Those yellow eyes stared back. "Ewww!"
she cried again. "Okay. Stop saying: Ewww! I get the picture!" Sarah looked at the frog. The thought of kissing... She
turned her face away. "Can you at least not dissect me?" "I'm failing biology. I need a frog for today's lab activity." "There
are three other frogs in the bushes. Capture one of -" "Didn't you hear the expression: a frog in hand is worth two in
the bush?" Sarah asked him. "I talk. Isn't that reason enough to let me go?" Sarah sighed. She didn't like the fact
that she was going to waste time trying to catch another frog. It's just that this one was getting to be so irritating. "Okay.
I'm letting you go. But if you are Prince William you better not forget this!" "Are you sure you won't kiss me? I'll turn
back into Prince William." "As if! Don't push your luck," she told him, placing him on the grass. She went back to the
pond to find another frog. Prince William hopped around with no particular direction. Finally he saw a familiar building.
Buckingham! His father will tell him what to do. Well, first he'll yell then tell him what to do. Wills made his way to the
sidewalk careful not to get squashed by the rushing feet of hurried passersby. He stopped at the curb. In his new form the
automobiles looked like vicious monsters. He took a deep breath and jumped on the street. As he frantically dodged tires and
the feet of the pedestrians a crazy riddle flashed through his mind: Q: Why did the frog cross the road? A: to get to
Buckingham Palace. Wills screeched to a halt barely escaping disaster. The car horns were deafening. He paused, glad he
was all right. He turned to the right. His eyes grew wide. The wheel of a car was heading straight for him!
Chapter
Two Sarah acted fast. Despite the protests of strangers she plunged into the London traffic, picking Wills up just in time. "Crazy
teenager...!" the driver of the car cursed as he stuck his head out the window. "I'm sorry," she muttered her apologies.
She panted when she reached the other side of the curb. She just risked her life to save a talking frog. Maybe she was crazy.
Sarah looked at the limp frog. Had she been too late? But no, he was breathing. "Miss, do you know it illegal to jaywalk-"
an officer scolded. "I know, officer. It's just you see-" she stammered. She held out her hands. "My frog!" she blurted
out. The officer looked at the unconscious animal and then back at the girls worried face. "Okay," he said slowly. "Just
don't let me catch you doing it again." "Don't worry officer, I won't."
Sarah looked at the two frogs on her desk.
She tied a string around both their necks. Which one of them was Wills? She had brought both of them home and they had gotten
mixed-up in her backpack. Heaven forbid she dissected the wrong frog!
Wills got out of his dazed state. He slowly opened
his eyes. Oh good it had all been a dream, he thought. Then he noticed a coffee mug was bigger than him. He looked at his
long limbs and groaned. He was still a frog. He saw two familiar eyes staring at him. "What're you looking at?" Sarah
took the leash off him. "I thought you died." "Yeah, what do you care? I'm just a frog remember?" "Well, I thought that
at first then I wondered why would you be making that stuff up? If you were a real frog I doubt you'd have this thing for
human girls. And if it was a lie why pretend to be Prince William? If I saw him on the news I'd know you'd be lying right
away." He started crying (if frogs can cry). "I used to think being a prince was the worst thing possible. Now I know.
Being a frog is ten thousand times worse." How sad, Sarah thought, watching his frustration. He started flapping his
limbs up and down. "Look at me. My body used to be described as lanky. Can I be any lankier now? I used to hate it when girls
screamed because of me. Now, they scream for another reason. To top things off I skipped breakfast this morning and I'm starving.
What if I start developing this taste for flies?" Oh no! He was considering eating flies? Sarah opened a bag of Cheetos
puffed. "Here eat!" she told him. Wills hopped over and tried to chomp on it. It didn't work. He tried swallowing it whole
but then decided there was a choking possibility. They finally settled with Sarah throwing the Cheetos in the air and Wills
flicking out his frog tongue to retrieve the pieces. "Thank you," he said, after sipping soda from a plate from Sarah's
doll's tea set. Sarah looked at him intently, the wheels in her head turning. "Look, I don't have class till late afternoon." "Biology?" "Yes,
biology. So, tell you what, I'll put you out of your misery." "You'll kiss me?" he asked, hope showing in his voice. "Ew,
no!" She pitied him but not that much. "I'm bringing you to Buckingham."
Chapter Three Sarah stood in front of the
fabled building and took a deep breath. One of the guards in the funny black hats was giving her a look he would give a trouble
maker. "Just punch the button," Wills told her from his place on her shoulder. Sarah punched it. "Yes?" "I would
like to extend a courteous visit to His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Wales in regards to the whereabouts of his eldest
son His Royal Highness Prince Wills of Wales," Sarah said formally. Too formal in her taste but that's what Wills coached
her to say. She was out of breath after that one sentence. Try saying that three times fast! "Do have the formal letter
of visitation?" "Uhhh," Sarah stammered looking at Wills. "Tell him the matter is too grave to require formalities,"
Wills instructed. "I fear that the matter is too grave to require the usual formalities." Sarah said into the speaker. "How
grave?" "Like his son being turned into a frog is grave," she muttered. "Can you repeat that, miss?" From the glare
Wills gave her she reworded. "What I meant was, it is something that I can only discuss with His Royal Highness." "State
the present opening code." "7X234RT8," Sarah relayed what Wills told her. The gate opened. "Please step up to the check
point for security checking," came the order. "Whew," Sarah sighed. "Strict security," she mumbled. "You haven't seen
the half of it," Wills told her.
"What do you mean you lost him?" Charles asked Wills' bodyguards. "He simply disappeared." "He
simply disappeared?! That excuse is only feasible in the Bermuda Triangle. Did Eton geographically relocate itself to Bermuda?" "No
sir." the men answered with serious tones. "Then I want to know what happened!" The man on the right repeated the story
for the fifth time. "He was running to his science class. He went out of our sight. By the time we rounded the blind corner,
all we saw was his pile of clothes and his tracking device. He simply Disappeared." "Are you telling me my son is running
around London without any clothes on?!" A knock was heard on the door. "What!" Charles barked. "A girl is here to
see you." his secretary informed. "She says she knows where Wills is." Charles kept his temper in check, "Send her in."
Sarah
entered the room. "Oooh he's mad," Wills said when he saw his father. "How can you tell?" "He's smiling," Wills whispered. "Your
Highness," Sarah extended her hand for Charles to take and curtsied low. "Lower. Curtsy lower," Wills commanded. "And
break my back?" she hissed through a clenched smile. "I understand you know where Wills is," Charles said. "Yeah, you
see I was in the park and-" "He's in the park?" Charles asked, ready to dispatch a team of people there. "Was at the
park. and I saw this frog and -and" "I'm not interested in the day of your life," Charles informed as politely as he could.
"I only want to know where my son is." "He's with me," Sarah let out a breath. "At your house?" "No, with me right
now." Sarah said. "Where?" Charles looked behind her hoping his six foot two son would walk through the door. "Charles,
we've heard someone has found William," Queen Elizabeth entered the room with her husband. "Yes, I was just getting to
that," Charles informed his mother. Oh my. She had to tell the Queen? Sarah licked her lips. "Well, speak up girl. Don't
dawdle. Speak up!" the queen said. Not knowing what to do Sarah panicked. "Here!" she thrust the frog into her face. "Augh!"
The Queen fainted.
Chapter Four Philip caught his wife. "Is this some kind of abominal joke?" Charles demanded. "No,
Your Highness. This really is Wills," Sarah insisted, holding the amphibian up. She shook Wills. "Say something!" To her
horror what came out was. "Ribbit!" "Wills!" Sarah exclaimed. "Ribbit! Ribbit!" was all he could say. His already bulging
eyes bulged even more. Sarah waved the webbed creature in Charles face. "This really is Wills," she cried desperately.
"Can't you recognize your own son!" Prince Charles looked at her. "My dear lady, how can I put this lightly? Have you lost
gone bullocks?!" And people thought he was crazy for having a loo collection and for talking to plants. "Guards take this
insane girl out of this palace." She was shoved out of the study. "But-!" The door slammed in her face. "I'm sorry,"
Wills apologized. Hopping around a dresser decorating the hall. "You're sorry?" She echoed. "You're sorry! I just made
a fool of myself in front of the future king of England and that's all you can say? You're SORRY!" She wanted to slap him
but decided against it because the force might be deadly on a frog his size. "You just blew our one chance to convince your
father what happened to you." "I got speechless. You don't know how intimidating my father can be." Sarah remembered
the way Elizabeth's eldest son glared at her when he slammed the door. Oh, she knew..."I thought your father ordered me to
get thrown out. Why are we still in the hallway? What are they waiting for?" "They're summoning up the proper people,"
Wills informed. Sarah sighed, leaning against a wall. "Boy, even to get kicked out of Buckingham still takes a while, huh?" "Look,
all you have to do is kiss me," Wills reasoned. "I appear safe and sound. I'll talk to my father. Everything will be fine." "Sure
I kiss you. Then you'll appear- without any clothes on! I'm sure that will get me into your father's good graces really well!"
She looked at him. "You're not even listening to me!" Suddenly Wills jumped off the table. "Why'd he go-" she wondered.
Guards rounded up the corner. "Miss come with us," the ordered. "But my frog-" she protested, pointing down the hall
as they carried her away. A blur of black shot past them. It was a dog. And it was running after Wills!
Chapter
Four "Down girl! Down girl! Heel! Heel!" Wills ordered, jumping as fast as he could away from the giant mammal. He jumped
on a table and then hopped off. Widgeon followed in suit. Wills heard a crash. There went the Ming vase, he thought. Sarah
and the guards heard the crash. "He's going to wreck the place!" one of them said, instantly trying to capture the frog.
He bumped his head on the wall. "Come here!" the other one commanded. He tried to grab Wills but his balance was off and
crashed into a table. A crash was heard. There goes the Baroque statue, Wills thought. One tried to get him from the
left. The other one tried to get him from the right. They both lept on at the same time and hit their heads. "Ow!" "Wills!
Wills!" Sarah called. "Don't let her eat me!!!" Wills exclaimed jumping into Sarah's hair. The dog tackled Sarah, walking
over her to get to the frog. Wills hopped away, Widgeon following him. Sarah wiped the dog drool that had dripped on
her face and shook her head to clear her mind. She looked at the direction of the guards who were tending to their bruises.
She gave them a weak smile. They did not look happy. She ran down the hallway and tried opening doors. She entered the first
unlocked room. "Wills, in here," she motioned with her hand. The frog jumped in. Sarah closed the door and locked it.
She could hear the dogs paws scratching the wood. The faint threats of the guards could also be heard. She leaned against
the door. "Whew, made it!" she sighed. "Excuse me, may I help you miss?" Sarah lifted her eyes and looked into the confused
face of Harry Windsor.
Chapter Five "Ah! Harry!" she exclaimed. "Actually, it's just Harry, There's no Ah! at
the beginning of it I'm sure. Maybe an HRH but not an Ah!" He walked towards her. "And you'll be?" Sarah thought of Elizabeth
fainting, Charles glaring at her and the broken vases. "Oh, I don't think you want to know who I am. Trust me on this." "Harry,
you've got to help me," Wills pleaded. "Wills?" Harry asked, hearing his brother's voice. His eyes darted back and forth.
"Where are you?" "Down here!" Wills called. Harry looked at the floor. "Down here where?" "The frog, you idiot!"
he yelled with brotherly exasperation. Harry lifted the frog onto the desk. He cast a side look at Sarah. "Is it really-?" Sarah
nodded sadly. "Wills," Harry laughed. "What happened?" "Well, there was this witch and I kinda made her mad and she
cast this spell on me..." Wills supplied. "And you got yourself turned into frog," Harry mused. "Cool!" "Yeah, if you
like feeling all scaly," Wills muttered. "William, let me dwell on this moment." Harry placed his palm over the Wills'
head. Then he placed a hand over his head. "I'm taller than you!" he laughed. "Harry, please be serious. We just got in
major trouble with your dad. And once he sees the mess in the hallway we'll be in any bigger trouble." "All right. All
right." Harry agreed, composing himself. They heard a knock at the door. Sarah looked at Harry. "Hide us!"
The
guards entered one of the rooms used as a meeting place of the palace. Harry was there sitting on the couch. "Your Highness,"
they ceremoniously bowed. Harry looked up, using his I'm-all-innocent look. "Yes?" "Have you seen a girl go by?" he
asked breathlessly. "Or a frog?" the other one put in. "Girl? Frog?" Harry echoed. "Have you guys been drinking something?" "Um."
they looked at each other. "I was just waiting for my father. Do I have to tell him about this problem?" Harry dropped
the hint. They bowed again. "We're sorry for bothering you Your Highness." They left.
Harry pulled back the curtain.
"Coast is clear." "Thank goodness they didn't see my shoes," Sarah expressed, stepping out. "You still know how to
use the I'll tell my father line," Wills praised. "Hey," Harry grinned. "I learned from the best." He sat back on the couch
and placed Wills on the coffee table. "Okay, back to the matter at hand. How do we return you to human form?" "I just have
to get a girl to kiss me." The brothers looked at Sarah. "Don't look at me like that!" The continued to stare. "Stop
it!" They stared on. "All right! Already. Man!" she walked over to the table. She lifted Wills up. "Okay, when you change
back hide behind the curtain and Harry will try to get you some clothes. He does have clothes here, doesn't he?" she asked
Harry. "Yeah, just a couple doors down is the guestrooms we stay in when there's an all night party." "Okay, that's
taken cared of." She took a deep breath. She closed her eyes. She bent over. Wills waited. "Harry do you have a mouth
spray?" Sarah asked. "Sarah!" Wills complained. "Well, who knows what germ's inhabiting your mouth right now," She took
the little bottle which Harry took from his coat and sprayed the contents into Wills' mouth. "Okay, lets get on with it." Sarah
lifted Wills up. She pursed her lips. She closed her eyes. She brought her palms closer. She opened her eyes and found those
two yellow domes staring back at her. She dropped Wills. Harry caught him before there was a collision with the floor. "I
can't do it! I can't do it!" She told them. She ran her fingers through her hair. "I can't!" she paced the room. "There has
to be another way!" "Well, I'm not doing anything today. I'll just go to the Library, fire up the computer, look up spells
and curses and hope something turns up." Sarah kissed him on the cheek. "Oh, thank you Harry!" "Yeah, kiss him!" Wills
grumbled. "Hey, why are you home, anyway." "Well, Papa, freaked out when you disappeared. So he yanked me out of Eton.
You know how it is." Sarah smacked her head with her palm. "Eton! School! I'm late!"
