Chapter Six
Sarah ran down the deserted hallways and charged into her biology class.
"Your late Miss Jacobs."
"I'm sorry. You see I was at Buckingham Palace and we had to sneak out-" she babbled. "I'm sorry." she took her seat.
"You had to sneak out of Buckingham?" Jason Smyth, the boy who sat behind her asked. "To see Prince Charles about his son I bet."
"As a matter of fact, YES!" Sarah hissed. She never liked Jace. He had this goal, of annoying her since they were kids and it seemed as if he never combed his hair.
"Chuckie, I would love to have your son in marriage," He made kissy noises in the air.
The class giggled.
Sarah hid her face behind one hand. Everyone knew about her crush on Wills. "I beat you up in the six grade. Don't tempt me to do it again," she threatened.
"I'm so scared," Jace said sarcastically. "But you're not going to beat me up. You'll just get Wills' bodyguards to do the job."
"Mr. Smyth, stop teasing Miss Jacobs," the teacher scolded.
"Thank you, sir." Sarah said.
"Even though she is mentally obsessed with our future king," the teacher grinned.
The class giggled.
Sarah groaned.
"Okay, class take your frogs out."
Wills was still on Sarah's shoulder. "You're so obsessed with me but you won't kiss me in my time of need." he whined.
"Oh shut up!" Sarah told him. She searched in her bag for the other frog.
Jace grabbed Wills from he shoulder.
"Help!" Wills yelped.
"Oh, cool. You have two," Jace observed. "I can dissect this one."
Oh no! "Jace, give him back!" Sarah ordered. She reached for Wills but Jace held the frog above his head, away from her reach.
"I didn't have time to get a frog this morning. I'll get you one this afternoon. In the mean time I'll dissect this guy." he stood up and held Wills high. Jace moved farther from Sarah as she leaned in her chair.
Oxygen! Oxygen! Wills thought as he was waved around.
"Miss Jacobs. Mr. Smyth. What are you up to?"
"Jace is going to dissect William, Mr. Button," Sarah yelled.
Jace arched an eyebrow. "You named a frog after Wills? How pathetic is that?"
"Sarah it's just a frog!" The teacher tried to reason
"It's not just a frog. It's-," a prince. She looked at the curious glances of the rest of her classmates. The smirk Jace was giving her. "It's my pet."
"Surely you can sacrifice him so Jace can participate in today's lab activity."
"Jace can fail Biology for all I care," Sarah snapped. She tried to work up some tears. That always got to him. they weren't completely fake.
Mr. Button took a moment to think things over. "Well it is your frog. And Jace should've gotten one for himself..."he paused. "Jace, I'm giving you ten minutes to find a frog in the yard. And leave Wills-I mean Sarah's pet alone."
Jace handed her back the amphibian.
Sarah smiled at her teacher. "Thank you Mr. Button."
Jace got up to leave. "Naming a frog after Wills..." he snorted.

"Class, I now want you to cut open your frog..." the teacher was instructing.
Sarah did as she was told.
Wills was on the table and he looked at the poor specimen in the dissecting pan.
"And to think this could've been you," Sarah said grimly.
The teacher went on lecturing. "You will notice that though the amphibian is deceased it's heart is still pumping. This is so because the heart is a separated organ from the brain..."
Sarah probed experimentally at the thumping red thing.
"That's it," Wills decided. "No more frog legs for me." He paused. "Make that no more seafood." He sighed. "I'll become a vegetarian."
"Miss Jacobs," Mr. Button warned. "I wouldn't do that if I were-"
It was too late. The knife poked the heart making a miniature hole. Blood spurted everywhere.
"Real smooth move, Sarah," Jace said from behind her.

Sarah tried to remove the stain from her uniform but to no avail. The blood was stuck. She suddenly heard her name be spoken over the loudspeaker of the school. "Miss Sarah Jacobs. Miss Sarah Jacobs. You are being called into the office. There is a call for you coming from Mr. A-frogs-brother. I repeat. There is a call for you coming from Mr. A-frogs-brother."
"It's Harry," Wills said on her shoulder.
"Hello?" Sarah said when she got on the phone.
"Sarah? Listen this is an emergency."
"Make it quick. I got to get back to class soon. And I'm covered in blood."
Harry's voice was filled with horror. "Not Wills' blood!"
"No, another frog's. Wills' fine," she looked at his frog state. "Well...You know what I mean."
"Okay. I went on the Internet. Researched some books on spells and stuff..."
Sarah nodded her head. "Yeah. Yeah. Go on."
Pages can be heard turning. "It's printed here that most spells have time limits. As in if you don't kiss Wills before a certain time he'll stay a frog forever."
Sarah thought about this. "Well, how much time does he have?"
"I don't know. It doesn't say. Maybe before midnight tonight. Maybe before twenty-four hours. It varies."
Sarah checked her watch. "Thanks for the warning. I'll see what I can do." she hung up.
"What did he say?" Wills asked.
"Your Highness? How would you feel about staying a frog forever?"
Wills fainted.

Chapter Seven
Sarah splashed some cold water on him.
Wills sputtered as he reawoke.
"Stop doing that!" Sarah said. "Soon, I'm going to faint."
"What happened?" he grumbled.
"You fainted. School's over."
"That last thing I remember was you saying I might have to stay a frog forever."
Sarah hated to tell him. "Uh, that's what I did say."
Wills fainted.

Sarah poked at him. "C'mon. C'mon."
"Stop it!" Wills ordered.
"Then stop fainting!" Sarah returned.
"Okay, okay," Wills groaned. He looked at his unfamiliar surroundings. "Where are we?"
"Jace's house," Sarah replied. "My brother's school doesn't end till an hour later. I get stuck with Mr. Annoyance till then."
"Sarah," Jace burst into the room.
"Speak of the devil..." Sarah muttered.
"Sarah, Mr. A-frog's-brother is on the phone for you."
"I didn't hear the phone ring," Sarah said.
"The tone was on low."
"How did he know I was here?"
Jace shrugged. "He called the school which told him to call Krissy and she told them to call here." He glanced to the downstairs. "You better hurry. He's waiting."
Sarah got off Jace's bed. She cursed Jace's family for not having a cordless.
Wills was about to hop after her.
The door closed before he got out.
Jace, who seemed like a giant, placed his foot in front of him. "I got you now!"
Wills did not like the look on his face.

Sarah came back into the room. "What were you talking about, Jace? There was no one on the phone."
Jace looked up from his place on the bed. "Really? Hmmm. Odd. He must've hung up."
Sarah glared at him. "All right what did you do?"
He whistled at the ceiling. He looked around the room.
Sarah waited to where his gaze would fall. It fell on the frog on the desk. "What did you do with, Wills?"
"Me?" Jace said innocently. Too innocently in Sarah's opinion.
She came over to the desk. It looked like Wills.
"I think its an insult. If Prince Wills heard you named a frog after him he'd chop your head off," Jace said.
"Jace," she motioned to the frog. "This really is Wills."
"Okay. The results are in. It's official. Sarah Jacobs is living proof. Too much Prince William can be damaging to the brain."
"Jace, this really is Prince William," Sarah took the frog off the desk and held it in front of Jace's face. "Say something," she ordered it.
"Ribbit!"
"Wills, not that again!" Sarah scolded.
"Ribbit. Ribbit!"
Sarah sighed it seemed as if Wills' main goal today was to make her look like an idiot in front of everyone.
"If I can recall the fairytale right. A prince gets turned into a frog. A girl kisses him . And he turns back into a prince."
"Yeah, that's what happened."
"And you really really believe this is Wills," Jace asked.
"It is," Sarah insisted.
"Ribbit!" the frog said.
Jace folded his hands across his chest. "Prove it." he challenged.
"What?"
"Prove it," Jace repeated. "If you absolutely, positively want me to believe that thing you're holding is William of Wales, kiss him. If he changes back into a prince I'll be proven wrong. If he doesn't; you'll know the truth and we can stop this preposterousness."
Sarah looked at the frog. She looked at Jace. Why did he have to look so darned smug? She went into the bathroom and got out a towel. She adjusted it around the waist of the frog so Wills can cover up when he changed back into human form.
Jace looked at her expectantly.
She was going to take great satisfaction in Jace's reaction when Wills turned back just so she could tell Jace I told you so. She looked at the amphibian. She closed her eyes. She kissed him.

Sarah opened one eye. The frog she had been holding in her hands was still a frog. Oh no! she thought. I've waited too long. Now the curse is permanent!
On the bed Jace was laughing hysterically.
Sarah took a second look at the frog in her hand.
A fly flew by and the frog's tongue flicked out to capture it. He ate it.
"We!" Sarah exclaimed, flinging the frog outside a the window.
A woman's shriek was heard the street below.
Sarah stared at Jace in disbelief. "You switched frogs on me."
He was too busy laughing which confirmed Sarah that her accusation was correct.
She got on top of him and banged his head against the bed. "Where is he? " she demanded. "Where's Wills?"

Where was he?
Wills looked around the pond Jace had thrown him in. Hundreds of other frogs were hopping everywhere. There was one girl frog giving him a flirtatious look which made him uncomfortable. At least he hoped it was a girl frog. It was hard to tell.
The croaks and ribbits every frog was conversing in was driving him to insanity.
He groaned to himself. A bath. He wanted so much to take a bath. How was he supposed to get home now? he heard a familiar voice.
"Wills?"

Sarah looked at the frog infested canal behind Jace's house. She looked at all the frogs in disbelief. They all looked the same. Which one was Wills? "Wills where are you?"
A weird bongo type succession of ribbits were heard.
"Over here!" Wills jumped up and down. But his call was drowned in the other frogs' ribbits and every other frog was jumping in one direction or another.
Sarah's forehead furrowed. Her face lit up as an idea dawned on to her. "Wills guess what? Since they can't find you? Harry's going to be king!"
A frog fainted.
"Wills," Sarah smiled to herself as she picked him up.

Chapter Eight
Sarah went back to Jace's house.
"Phone," he told her, holding it out.
"Who is it?"
"Mr. A-frog's-brother..." Jace told her.
Sarah took the phone still skeptical but Wills was safe so she didn't have to worry about him.
Jace gave the frog on her shoulder a scornful look.
Wills glared back just as fiercely with his yellow eyes.
"Hello?" Sarah spoke into the receiver.
"Hey, Sarah good news," Harry announced." I have a friend who's into this witchy stuff and she's over here now. Bring Wills over."
"You'll leave the backdoor open again?" Sarah asked.
"Yeah." Harry promised. "Same way you came in."
Sarah checked her watch. "I'll be there in fifteen minutes." she said then hung up. "I gotta go." she told Jace.
"To Buckingham Palace," Jace rolled his eyes.
"Yes," Sarah shot back as she pulled on her coat.
"What do you like about this prince anyway? He could be a complete nutcase for all you know."
"I'd rather be with a nutcase than be with you," Sarah retorted. She collected her things and went out the door. "Tell my brother I'll be back in time for dinner."
Jace yawned. "Will do. Hey, Sarah?" he got off the couch and called to her from he front door.
"Ugh! What?" Sarah whined. She needed to start walking to the palace.
"Are you going to the school dance tonight?"
"Jace!" Sarah exclaimed in exasperation. He stopped her to ask her that? She resumed walking.
"Well are you?" he called.
"You know I don't go for those thing's," Sarah told him.
"You probably won't look good in a dress anyway," he said.
Sarah returned. She was going to be late for her meeting with Harry but she just couldn't let Jace have the last word in a fight. She just couldn't. "Fine! I'll go. And I'm going to wear a dress."
Jace laughed. "Sarah Jacobs? In a dress? I'd love to see that!"
"You will!' she informed.
"And Prince William will be right beside you!" Wills said from his place on her shoulder.
"And Prince William will be beside me!" Sarah echoed, without thinking.
"Sarah, stop it with the Wills thing." Jace complained. "It's getting boring."
"I'll be there," Wills said.
"He'll be there," Sarah repeated. What was she saying!
"Whatever. See you tonight."
"Good-bye Jace," Sarah said. She walked away. When she crossed the street she asked Wills. "What did I just say?"
"You just said Prince William was going to take you to your school dance," he informed.
"How can you make me say that? You will come won't you?" she pleaded.
"Sure I'll come. But..." his frog smile was wide. "You'll have to kiss me first."
"You are a sneak!" Sarah name-called when she realized his plot.
"Not a sneak. A prince," Wills corrected. "A desperate prince. So? Kiss me?"
Sarah sighed. "Let's see what Harry has to say first."

Chapter Nine.
"Okay, we're here. Start the witchcraft," Wills announced as he hopped into the library, Sarah behind him.
"I'll go call Amber," Harry said. "Amber?"
"Yes?" an answer returned from a closed door.
"William's here."
"I know, I heard his voice."
"Then why don't you come out?" Harry asked.
A pause. "I just can't right now."
All three of them gave each other a confused look.
"Just kiss me!" Wills ordered Sarah, upset about the delay.
"I'll go see what's keeping her," Sarah volunteered. She went to the other room. "Hey," she called to the girl hiding behind the door.
The girl immediately shut the door.
"Amber?" Sarah guessed.
The girl nodded.
"Do you talk?" Sarah wondered.
"I don't know what I'm going to do!" the girl blurted out.
"Huh?"
"I was the one who turned Wills into a frog!" she confessed.
"W-why would you do such a thing?" Sarah asked.
"Because of Harry," the girl said. She sighed his name. She sat down on a chair. "Harry."
"Harry?" Sarah echoed. How did he fit in the picture?
"Yeah, I figured he'd call me for help when he encountered some spell. And I was right!"
Sarah took a deep breath. "So let me get this straight. You turned Wills into a frog, so you'll kiss him. Harry will be eternally grateful that his bro is back to normal he'll fall in love with you?"
Amber nodded.
"Why didn't you just turn Harry to a frog?" Sarah wondered.
"I can't do that!" Amber exclaimed.
Sarah so the logic in this. Turn the boy you love into a frog? Never! Turn his brother into a frog? Okay. "So go out there and kiss Wills."
"Will's going to recognize me!" Amber screamed.
"So how is Harry going to fall in love with you?" Sarah said just as loudly.
"I don't know!" Amber cried. "It was an insane plan I know. But you don't know what Harry does to me. I sit next to him when he eats M and M's just to smell his breath." she sighed.
And I thought I was obsessed, Sarah thought.
"You kiss him." Amber said.
"I kiss Harry?"
"No, Wills!"
"Me? Why is everyone asking me? Am I the only living female on this planet?" She went back to the library. "Okay, Your Highness pucker up!"
"Finally!" Wills said.
Sarah glanced at the clock. "The dance starts in two hours. I'm not going to be made a fool out of in front of Jace again. You're coming, right?"
"I am. I am!" Wills vowed, jumping up and down.
"Same plan. Hide behind the curtain..."
"Yes! Yes! Kiss me!"
Sarah looked at Harry. "Mouthspray?"
Harry handed her the bottle.
Sarah sprayed. "You know if this doesn't work? I'm having frog legs for dinner."
"Fine," the prince agreed. He wouldn't want to live anyway. "What's taking you so long?"
"I'm just thinking about that motto your mom had stitched on one of her pillows," Sarah mused. "You have to kiss a thousand frogs before you find a prince..."
"You only have to kiss one frog. Me!"
Sarah looked back at Harry. How bad could this be? She already kissed a real frog at Jace's house. She bent over, closed her eyes, and planted a huge kiss on that frog mouth.

"Well?" Wills asked his brother.
The frown Harry gave him was answer enough.
Sarah's face was all puckered as if she had just eaten a lemon. "Are you behind the curtain now?"
William looked at his frog body. "You can open your eyes. It didn't work."
Sarah's eye's flew open. "What?" She looked at Wills. she remembered what happened at Jace's house. "You are William, aren't you?"
"I think I am," he mumbled. "I'm not so sure anymore."
"Okay, What did I do wrong?" she began pacing the library. She gave the image of a bird trapped in a cage with no idea how to get out. "This is Wills. I kissed him. Did I miss something?"
"Maybe you didn't kiss him long enough," Harry suggested.
"You mean I have to do this again?" Sarah asked.
Harry shrugged. "Just a suggestion."
Wills looked pointedly at the clock. "Tick tock. Tick tock..."
Sarah thought of Jace and how he was going to laugh at her when she appeared at the dance without Wills. She'd never hear the end of it. She grabbed Wills and kissed him. Still kissing... Still kissing...She pulled away. "Okay, That was sixty seconds! If that wasn't long enough. I give up."
Wills was still a frog. "Did you say something?" he asked drowsily. He was seeing stars.
"Maybe you didn't kiss him hard enough?" Harry suggested.
Sarah grabbed Wills again and kissed him hard on the lips. She stopped. "Wills?"
"Hmmm?" Wills said, woozy from the intensity. Damn! If he was in human form he'd give her a night she'd never forget! "Papa, I've found the girl I'm going to marry..." he babbled.
"What?" Sarah exclaimed.
Harry gave a soft laugh behind her. "I think he's a little overwhelmed."
There was a silly grin on Wills' frog face.
"But he's still a frog." Sarah said.
"Maybe you didn't kiss him enough?" Harry said.
"Didn't kiss him enough?" Sarah's voice rose. She grabbed Wills again and kissed him countless times on the lips and didn't stop till she was out of breath.
"Oho," Wills swooned. How much kissing can he take in one day?
"Don't you dare faint!" Sarah scolded.
"Rabbit," he replied.
Harry and Sarah looked at Wills. He was still a frog.
Sarah turned to Harry. "All right, get the frying pan. Your Highness, do you want your legs deep fried or stir fried?"
The door to the other room opened and a wad of paper sailed through the air. It hit Harry on the head.
"Sorry, Harry," Amber called meekly.
"It's okay," he called back assuringly. The prince flattened the piece of paper and read. "The kiss will take effect after an hour."
"Where in the fairytale does it say that!" Sarah screamed.
Another wad of paper was thrown out.
Harry read. "The Brother's Grimm messed it up."
Sarah checked her watch. Then looked at Wills. "Okay. Okay. I'm going to leave now. I have to find a dress. William, once you change get back your glorious body you get yourself to my front steps. Wear a tux. And if you don't I'm going to find a spell book and turn you back into a frog!" She threatened. "I know where you live." And she left.
